I’m a very big fan of Yuengling Beer. I try to drink light beers a majority of the time and Yuengling Light Lager is by far my favorite of the light variety.
So on my latest trip to the grocery store, I stopped by the beer aisle as I always do and something new caught my eye. The name “Yuengling” was familiar enough but the bright red background, bold white lettering and black accents on the packaging confused me. What is this? And what’s with the goat drinking a beer?
A closer inspection revealed that this appealing six pack was indeed a new offering from “America’s Oldest Brewery”…. Yuengling Bock Beer! If the brand name didn’t sell me right off the bat, the retro-style packaging definitely did so a sixer was coming home with me.
Once home, the sun was slowly making its retreat to the other side of the earth and the temperature was slightly dropping. This was the perfect time to retire to the backyard with a beer. I popped the top off a Bock (using my Clink N Drink of course) and made my way out back. It only took one sip for me to realize that this was going to be a good beer.
This malty, dark copper/brown brew had the slightly burnt flavors of caramel and cocoa. The carbonation seemed just right with no overwhelming after taste. Definitely an easy drinking beer, perfect for cooler weather but light and refreshing enough for when the temperature rises.
I enjoyed Yuengling’s Bock Beer and will buy it again in the future. If available in your area, I’d recommend giving it a try.
